Creativity, Inc: a review
May 3
Want to go behind-the-scenes at Pixar?
Thanks to Adam Morgan's recommendation, I just finished reading "Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration" by Ed Catmull and Amy Wallace. This book tells the story of Pixar and how they learned to embrace creativity and the mistakes that come with it. I highly recommend finding it at your local library or bookstore. (The library is free and gives you a reading deadline!)
Key takeaway for me: test designs early. Over the years, Pixar learned to solidify story ideas at the beginning of a project to save time overall. They held candid sessions among designers to refine initial ideas, and never stopped pursuing an authentic experience. Great lessons for my future projects!
Have another great book you've read about design? Let me know what it is!
